PH 3½

The PH 3 ½-2 ½ table lamp was designed in 1928 and is one of many development projects undertaken by PH in connection with the development of its world-renowned three-shade set.The table lamp is based on PH's original designs and comes with the first type of shade holder and adjustment screws. The upper metal shade has a rolled rim, a decorative and stabilizing element that makes the shade appear thicker than the actual material. The two lower shades are blown opal glass. PH has found that this combination uses the light source more effectively, directing the light downward due to the reflection off the white interior surface of the upper shade. The stand is made of brown painted brass which gives the lamp the same look as the burnished brass lamps of the time, a process that is no longer recommended due to environmental considerations.

The interior slats are 100% glare-free and rest on a set of three reflective shades that direct most of the light downward. The white painted bottom surface of the upper shade directs light slightly downward. The two lower shades made of blown opal glass ensure a large glare-free light surface, which allows for optimal use of the light source to provide functional and comfortable lighting. The opal glass shades are polished on the outside and matte on the inside.
