VL 38

The VL38 table lamp was designed in the late 1930s by Vilhelm Lauritzen in partnership with Louis Poulsen for the construction of the Radio House in Copenhagen (Radiohuset, now the Royal Academy of Music). Vilhelm Lauritzen's two lamps, the VL38 table lamp and the VL45 suspension lamp, designed for the Radio House, appeared in Louis Poulsen's catalogs in the mid 1940s. The VL38 lamp in a white/brass version was relaunched in fall 2016. All fixtures feature LED sources to accommodate the latest advances in lighting technology and energy savings. The black version of the VL38 lamp launched in fall 2017 features a sharper line than the original white version, while maintaining the retro look and soft, curved expression of the original design.
