Meer dan tweeduizend jaar geleden, in China, vlogen de allereerste lantaarns de lucht in. Cel imiteert hun structuur en geest door lucht te binden met een dunne witte metalen draad, of in de nieuwe bronzen versie, een kooi van licht die de intensiteit ervan verhoogt. De lampenkap is een lichtgevend hart in linnen voor de binnenversie en in opaline Plexiglas voor de buitenversie, aangevuld met een wit zijden kwastje, of in zwarte zijde in de bronzen versie.
